Energy-Based Practices:
Space Attunement™, Reiki, Sound Healing & Music

Space Attunement™ is my metaphysical practice of preparing the active dying space as a conscious, living container for the crossing. I begin simply by being present, listening to what the space holds and needs before I do anything else.
Throughout the active dying process, I stay in constant communion with the spirit world, calling on its guidance to support my energy work. Using my pendulum—a tool central to shamanic dowsing—I create a sacred, protective container around the dying person and fill it with love and light. It can turn the space into something that genuinely feels good to be in—warm, safe, and welcoming. It also can help shield the dying person from exterior energies, including the grief and emotion of those present, so they are free to do their own inner processing without interference. Within this held space, I clear and heal the body of any negative energies, frequencies and vibrations and balance the chakras to support a peaceful passing. At the moment of death, I close the chakras, helping the soul release fully, protecting those present, and honoring the threshold that has just been crossed.
The space beyond that container also receives care. The weight of memory, emotion, and history that accumulates in these spaces is real. Tending to it consciously makes a felt difference for loved ones and others present. Energetically, I use my pendulum to help clear and heal the space. Then I use it to ground the space’s energy to the earth, lower its frequency to align with nature, and raise its vibration. Physically, I adjust what the space needs: light, sound, scent, and anything else that can affect the senses, all guided by what actually supports everyone in the room. Before the active dying process begins, I work with the person directly to discover what they want close to them—a beloved blanket, sacred objects, or anything that brings comfort and meaning—ensuring that every detail of the space reflects the dignity and tenderness of the moment.
When the space is attuned and the container is held, fear softens, presence deepens, and the room becomes a sanctuary—a space where both the dying and those who love them can be fully present at the threshold.

Reiki offers another layer of support. It’s a Japanese energy healing practice that can channel universal life force through the hands to bring physical comfort, emotional calm and energetic balance, and from a spiritual perspective, can carry qi into the soul's next incarnation. I use it with every patient as a gentle accompaniment, supporting a smooth and harmonious passage forward.

Elizabeth ‘El’ Larson of HEARE™ can be hired to bring singing bowls and other sound healing instruments to the dying and those gathered with them. The harmonies and resonance of the bowls can help soothe the nervous system, balance energy and settle the space into something sacred and grounding. For the dying, the vibrations can support the soul’s gentle and graceful release from the body. For those present, they may offer something equally essential—peace, presence, and a sense of being held at the threshold together in a shared experience.

Sound is the last sense to leave us. Even when a person can no longer speak or respond, they can still hear, and what they hear matters. Because dying is a journey, it deserves to be accompanied by something meaningful.
When I start working with a patient and their family, I intuitively create a playlist for the active dying journey, with help from loved ones—a carefully chosen collection that reflects who this person truly is. Together we gather songs that carry memory and meaning, music that brings comfort or a sense of home. Loved ones often become deeply engaged in this process, contributing songs that speak to their relationship with the person and say what words sometimes cannot.
This is not background music. It is an intentional companion for one of the most significant passages of a human life.
